The Business Analyst will play a leading role in formulating, directing and supporting delivery of business change initiatives undertaken by the Change & Improvement Team.

You will work in partnership with senior managers, deploying expert business analysis skill and broad business knowledge to create solutions that provide significant business benefit. You will be instrumental in shaping the structure of business change, remaining engaged throughout development and implementation to manage requirements change, validate the solution and prepare the business for implementation.

You may work on independent or project assignments working in partnership with other senior members of the project team and work stream leads. You will need to influence and broker solutions with senior stakeholders, including members of the Senior Management Team.

You will analyse, quantify and document business processes and support teams to model options for the future, to ensure that business processes continually develop and improve quality and value for money to their customers. You will promote the capabilities of the Business Analysis and Data Analytics team and individuals to the business to ensure the maximum skills and value can be extracted.


a)    In depth knowledge of business process analysis and design techniques, including the use of modelling and collaborative tools with the ability to select the appropriate approach for a particular assignment. Knowledge of how to map service activity data to financial information and system requirement.

b)    Able to identify critical issues with ease and push creative thinking beyond existing boundaries and client mindsets.

c)    Experience of formal project management techniques, such as Prince2 plus associated tools and processes, including planning and estimating. Ability to assimilate complex information quickly and make decisions in an objective manner.

d)    Experience of the application of standard business process analysis techniques to capturing, quantifying and documenting business processes to a high standard.

e)    Experience of delivering complex project on time, to budget and to quality

f)      Solution focussed with a recognition of business constraints, ambitions and operational objectives in area of assignment.

g)    Experience of developing business cases for large complex business change projects, including financial and numerical modelling and appraisal skills.
h) Demonstrate excellent communication, presentation and written skills, with relevant experience of dealing with senior managers, business managers and third parties.  Able to develop and sustain excellent client relationships that foster and enhance client ties.

Risk management of child protection cases and implementing child protection plans, Contribute to the highest standard of multi-agency working. Ensure quality assurance. Improve outcomes for children in care. Ensure all children's wishes and feelings are taken into consideration. Scrutinise and challenge to establish if the needs of the children are met.


 - Education to degree level in Social Work (DipSW / CQSW / CSS) and GSCC Registration

 -  Significant knowledge and understanding of the legislation, statutory guidance, policy and procedural framework which informs child care, safeguarding and child protection practice across all agencies.

- Experience and ability to chair inter-agency meetings in order to gather information, identify risks and progress the management of individual cases.

 -  Substantial experience (minimum five years) as a social care manager with children and families and Independent Reviewing Officer in a multicultural environment.

Travel to out of City placements, sometimes nationwide, will be essential.

A vacancy has arisen for the post of Manager of the City’s Adoption Team.  The successful applicant will lead a team of experienced Adoption Social Workers and work closely with our Post Order Adoption Team. 

You will manage the Adoption Placement Advisors who assist with Home Finding.

You will be expected to contribute to the recruitment of adopters; you will also manage the Customer Service Officers who track the adoption progress from their first contact with an initial enquiry, to approval at Panel.

You will monitor the quality of Assessments at all stages and will Quality Assure the Assessment and the quality of reports to the Adoption Panel.

You will contribute to the Performance Monitoring of the service and will report regularly with the department and to eternal bodies on the progress of the recruitment of applicants, and the progress of adoption for all children in the city who have an Adoption Plan.


1)     Substantial experience (minimum of 3 years) as a Social Care Practitioner with Children and Families and 2 years’ experience in Fostering and Adoption.

2)     Proven ability to Quality Assure Assessments for Adoption Panel.

3)     Ability to work effectively and proactively.
