You will be a qualified professional (CQSW, DipSW, CSS) with HCPC registration, have completed your NQSW year and be experienced in working with children and families.

Proven experience of court work, as well as undertaking in-depth assessments, preparing high quality reports and presenting them in a formal setting is required as is your ability to manage child protection cases.  

Possession of a full driving licence, access to a vehicle and willingness to travel both inside and outside the council area as required is needed .An enhanced DBS check will also be required.

Support and protect Nottingham’s Vulnerable Adults

Independent Chair – Nottingham City Safeguarding Adults Board

Nottingham City has a Vulnerable Adults Plan which sets out our intentions that:

  • All citizens can be safer, happier and live longer lives in which they are able to fulfil their aspirations.
  • All citizens have support, advice and information to live with choice, control and dignity in a place of residence which seeks to meet their individual needs.
  • All citizens are enabled to achieve their full potential as active partners in their own support and as part of a community-wide support system.

We are currently driving forward the "Making Safeguarding Personal" agenda in order to ensure people are able to stay safe from harm.

To support the delivery of these ambitions Nottingham City is seeking to appoint a new Independent Chair for its well-established multi-agency Safeguarding Adults Board.

This critical role requires someone to provide independent leadership and strategic vision to the safeguarding adults agenda across Nottingham City.  The successful candidate will chair the Nottingham City Safeguarding Adults Board in a professional and impartial and manner while ensuring the Board has an independent objective and authoritative identity.

The Independent Chair will demonstrate high level communication and negotiation skills with both professionals and the public to support the continuous improvement of the Board.  The role calls for someone with extensive experience in chairing strategic partnerships, a successful record of work promoting outcomes for vulnerable adults, along with the required passion and knowledge that this important role requires.  The Chair will also act as the ‘public face’ of adult safeguarding within Nottingham City, responding to media enquiries where required.

The appointment will be on a consultancy/self employed basis and it is estimated that 30 working days per annum will be required to meet each of the Board’s requirements. The day rate for this role is £450.
