To create public confidence, public value and deliver excellent outcomes for older and disabled citizens and their carers through the leadership of and effective delivery of assessment, care management, review and safeguarding services. The Senior Practitioner will work alongside the Team Manager being responsible for a locality based Multi–disciplinary Team delivering social care services for older and physically disabled people and their carers.


- Appropriate professional qualification e.g. CQSW, DipSW, CSS, OT or Nursing degree as well as registration with General Social Care Council, Health Professions Council as appropriate.

- Thorough understanding of assessment processes and ability to assess highly complex needs and situations.

- Substantial knowledge as a social work practitioner with disabled people, carers and families across a range of functions as well as an understanding and ability to apply national and local priorities, drivers and legislation to facilitate continued government visions for change in social care.

- Thorough understanding of the best social work practice and recent research in respect to adults and carers. Extensive knowledge and experience of complex safeguarding work.

This post is one of three Service Managers responsible for the strategic and operational management of Nottingham City Libraries and for shaping the future of the service through the development of strategies and service plans, reporting directly to the Head of Service for Culture and Libraries. This Service Manager will lead on Customer experience and engagement across all libraries in the city. Key duties will include line management of a number of thematic Library Leads, Library Development Officers and an Operations Manager with responsibility for 7 libraries in the north of Nottingham. Nottingham Library Service has recently undergone phase one of a major restructure with a firm Commitment to Creating Better Futures for all our citizens.


-  Strong commitment to and understanding of public library service role in meeting Council agendas

-  Strong leadership skills; able to lead the library service from the front and convey a clear strong vision that inspires all library staff.

-  Lead the service with excellent customer standards and expectations.

-  Ability to work with to work with others on the Library Leadership team, encouraging matrix working across the service.

Working Pattern: Service is open 8am to 8pm early shifts 8am to 4pm late shift 12pm to 8pm


To assist with the delivery of services to children, young people and their families through the Targeted Support Team. To ensure that speedy returns home for CLA are affected where identified as appropriate and to provide additional support to placements identified as at risk of disruption.  To provide peripatetic staff cover across residential units in emergencies.


1. To contribute to effective multi-agency working with other professionals, to provide individual and group work for children and families.

2. Actively contribute to the development, provision and review of care plans, placement plans and other relevant plans, including plans for reunification where deemed appropriate.

3. Contribute to the evaluation of risk and the protection of young people from abuse, bringing to the attention of an appropriate manager, any matters which give cause for concern in relation to the care of young people.

4. Promote the rights, responsibilities and diversity of young people and colleagues, in line with legislative and organisational policy requirements.

5. Maintain accurate, up to date, legible and complete records and documentation in accordance with legislative and departmental requirements, and comply with the Data Protection Act.
