Opportunities have arisen for Temporary and Permanent Senior Practitioner posts in the Duty and Long-term Fieldwork teams in the City. The candidate needs to be enthusiastic, with a wealth of experience in front line social work and must hold the relevant Social Work qualification. We would want them to demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude and an ability to motivate the work force.

The successful candidates will carry a small but complex caseload and will manage this caseload effectively. You will assist the Team Manager with all aspects of the team’s performance.  You will offer mentoring and support to less experienced social workers.  particularly our ASYE candidates who require additional assistance and shadowing opportunities. You will already have significant experience as a social worker within child protection, court work and chairing meetings.

The role of a senior practitioner is valued within Nottingham city and alongside the mentoring there is a clear training and development pathway to enable the successful candidate to enhance their skills into either team management or branching into specialisms.

Nottingham’s children and young people make us a youthful, energetic and exciting City in which to live, work and play. Like many Cities across England we also have pockets of deprivation and disadvantage with the need to overcome challenges and deliver good and outstanding services which secure the best outcomes for our children.

We are seeking experienced, committed and enthusiastic Team Managers who can lead a team of Social Workers working with children in need, in care and Child Protection, you would demonstrate strong leadership and motivational skills to excel in this role.

The successful candidate will require skills to drive safe practice, continually develop multi-agency working and ensure that all services fully support the social work task and the wider early help and safeguarding system.

  • Manage efficient operation of services to ensure the delivery of high quality, high     performance and cost effective services.
  • Ensuring the delivery of service plan objectives, developing performance culture within the team, performance management of staff and Recruitment of staff
  • Ensuring all children have a robust care plan that reflects individual needs and effectively safeguards them. This includes working with Children In Care to ensure they have a Permanency Plan and a Discharge plan which supports them through transition into independence or their own family

The Post Holders will manage approximately 7 staff with a variety of skills to carry out their primary functions.

We are seeking confident and experienced leaders to who are committed to improving the lives of vulnerable children, young people and their families.  We are looking for creative, passionate team players who will work across services to achieve excellence for children. 

The successful candidate will need to be a qualified, registered Social Worker with a proven track record of professional management in child protection within social care and be educated to degree level, with an ability to think tactically and strategically to deliver results through effective collaboration.  The successful candidate will join a supportive, skilled and committed management team, which values supervision and continuous improvement in service delivery.
