Get involved in tackling obesity in the City!

The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) for Obesity in Nottingham City is currently being updated

JSNAs are local assessments of current and future health and social care needs that could be met by the local authority, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) or the NHS Commissioning Board. Under the Health and Social Care Act 2012 local authorities and CCGs have a duty to prepare JSNAs.

The aim of a JSNA is to improve the health and wellbeing of the local community and reduce inequalities for all ages. It is used to help to determine what actions local authorities, the NHS and other partners need to take to meet health and social care needs and to address the wider determinants that impact on health and wellbeing. We have a rolling update programme in Nottingham City and aim for all chapters to be updated within a 3 year cycle

In Nottingham just over one fifth of the population are reported to be obese with an additional 39% being overweight (Source: Active People Survey 2012). We want to support Nottinghams citizens to become healthier and fitter and this includes thinking of new ways to help people maintain a healthy weight. To do this effectively, we need to involve citizens to help is identify sensible approaches to tackling obesity and how to communicate these.

We would like you to help shape the updated JSNA. A copy of the current JSNA for obesity can be found here.

We are holding a discussion group for citizens who would like to have their say on obesity in the City and contribute towards the updated JSNA. If you would like to be involved you will need to be available to attend the following discussion group:
