Attendence improves

Attendance improving in Nottingham schools

Schools in Nottingham are bucking the national trend in overall absence, there has been a drop in figures but the national average has increased, meaning the city is narrowing the gap.

Overall Nottingham has moved up the league table going from 147th to 120th out of 151 Local Authorities. The biggest drop is in unauthorised absence, which is down 17%

Focus on family learning helps to support parents and carers into work

Ten thousand Nottingham families who faced social and economic disadvantage have benefited from a family learning programme in Nottingham over the last 12 years.

The Nottingham City Council-led programme is funded by the Skills Funding Agency and is designed to give parents and carers the skills and confidence they need to help them better support their children.

Educational progress of Nottingham Children in Care exceeds national average

Pupils in care have made better progress through school to their GCSEs than their peers have nationally.

Provisional data for 2015 shows that the number of Children in Care in Nottingham, who made the expected progress from KS2 to KS4 is higher than the national average

CME Qualification

Nottingham teacher is one of the first to get a new national music qualification

Lucy Kerslake, one of only three teachers in the East Midlands to complete the Certificate for Music Educators (CME) qualification, and has recently gained a regular post with Nottingham Music Service.

The three graduates, including one from Nottingham Music Hub beat strong competition from around the country.
