Business backing for devolution deal

Senior business leaders have thrown their weight behind a ground-breaking devolution deal for the East Midlands.

A team of nineteen local authorities and the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership are in final negotiations with Government over a devolution deal which would drive co-ordinated economic growth across a combined area of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire.

Broadmarsh

Transformation of Nottinghams Broadmarsh area will create 3,000 jobs

Nottingham City Council has unveiled wide-ranging plans to transform the Broadmarsh area in the city centre.

The proposals should boost the local economy by over 1billion a year, create nearly 3,000 jobs and attract an extra three million visitors a year.

The plans, alongside intus proposed redevelopment of Broadmarsh, Nottingham Castles redevelopment and the Skills Hub scheme, will transform the southern end of the city centre into a top-class destination for retail, leisure and education. Collectively, they represent a 250m investment in the city.

New Hyson Green library opens in the Mary Potter Centre

The new library brings a host of benefits for local people. It is modern, open plan and provides improved computer access and equipment, including free WiFi.  There is also a dedicated under 5s childrens area and the library is open for longer hours. The new library also offers opportunities for a greater range of activities and events for all ages. Official opening Monday 1pm by the Lord Mayor.

Great new facilities for kids opening at two Nottingham Leisure Centres

A brand new sensory room will open to the public at John Carroll Leisure Centre in Radford on Monday 30 November. New soft play facilities with a pirates and princesses theme will be opened at Clifton Leisure Centre on 4 January 2016.
