Today's Forecast

A mix of rain, sleet and snow will continue to push southeast this afternoon, clearing by 1500hrs. Thereafter the afternoon will be dry and sunny. Clear skies into this evening will allow RSTs to readily fall below freezing - this will allow icy patches to form where surfaces remain damp from daytime rain, sleet or snow along with a low risk of a patchy frost. Overnight it should remain largely dry and clear though there is a low risk of one or two showers pushing in from the northwest and this may give some sleet and snow at times. Dry, cold and sunny on Friday.

Ice and frost: Icy patches are likely to form this evening and overnight where surfaces remain damp from daytime showers and where any isolated wintry showers overnight fall onto frozen surfaces. A patchy frost is possible.

Outlook for the next four days (forecasts run from midday to midday)
Friday Cold and breezy with sunny spells and scattered showers on Friday afternoon. Showers easing by late afternoon with clear skies overnight. Another widespread freeze is expected. Cold and rather cloudy for a time on Saturday morning but turning brighter again by midday.

Dry and sunny on Saturday afternoon with winds becoming light. Very cold overnight with widespread, locally severe frost developing under clear skies. Dry and sunny on Sunday morning.

Dry, sunny and cold by day on Sunday and Monday with light winds. Clear skies with widespread frosts overnight, locally severe in places and with a few isolated freezing fog patches possible.

Please Note: The colour code used for the headings for these forecast refer to the weather forecast and not the need to grit.
