Today's Forecast

Rather murky through the afternoon with misty in places and perhaps a spot of drizzle. Patchy low cloud and misty overnight. Variations in mist and cloud likely to cause RSTs to fluctuate in response to varying amounts of cloud, perhaps rising and dipping above and below zero at times. Mist and low cloud slow to lift and break through Wednesday morning, some limited brighter spells towards midday. Minimum RSTs minus 0.5C.

Outlook for the next four days (forecasts run from midday to midday)

Light winds, and sunny skies will be followed by a dry and mostly clear overnight period. This will lead to a widespread freeze with frost. Whilst Thursday will start dry, sunny and cold for most, winds will gradually start to increase.

After a generally sunny day, it will be a clear start to the night, however with strengthening winds and clouds slowly spilling in from the west, RSTs are likely to remain above freezing. Through the early hours a band of rain is expected to make slow progress east with some slightly milder air following. However there is low confidence in the timing of the rain band.

Any rainfall is likely to clear east during Friday afternoon, with clearer, but still breezy conditions overnight. There will also be some patchy cloud, leading to RST's remaining above freezing. There will also be isolated showers, perhaps heavy at times. Cloud will gradually thicken during Saturday, perhaps bringing the odd spot of rain, and staying above freezing overnight.

Please Note: The colour code used for the headings for these forecast refer to the weather forecast and not the need to grit.

RED - The weather will cause road surface temperatures (RSTs) to fall or stay below zero.
AMBER - The weather may cause road surface temperatures (RSTs) to fall below zero.
GREEN - The weather will not cause road surface temperatures (RSTs) to fall below zero.
