Clarification from the MoJ on the timing of the LAA duty tender announcements

We are very aware that firms are nervously awaiting an announcement from the Ministry of Justice on the outcome of criminal duty provider tenders.

We have sought clarification from the LAA and we have now been informed that the tender announcements will be made 'this week'.

It has said the intention is that announcements will be made all in a single day, and a public announcement will be made at the start of the day to alert firms to look out for the notification.

Law Society guidance on legal remedies

The Law Society has prepared information on potential remedies for criminal defence solicitors should they be unsuccessful in relation to all or part of their tender.
