Criminal advocacy review

Legal sector warns that AML report findings are misleading

Tributes paid to Robin ap Cynan

Tributes have been paid to Welsh family lawyer and long-serving Law Society Council member Robin ap Cynan, who died suddenly last Friday.

Law Society president Jonathan Smithers said: ‘Robin has made enormously valuable contributions to the Law Society.'

Opposition to criminal court fees grows

The Independent has reported that the House of Lords last night rejected the government's criminal courts charge. The motion of regret was tabled by the shadow justice minister, Lord Beecham. The Law Society worked closely with Lord Beecham before the debate, briefed him, and he quoted us during the debate citing the examples we provided of the impact of the fees.
