Law Society will strongly oppose measures to restrict use of in-house advocates

In our response to a government consultation on criminal advocacy, the Law Society said it was strongly opposed to a suggestion that instructing an in-house advocate represents a conflict of interest.

We emphasised that solicitors have an obligation to act in the best interests of their clients, which means advising on a range of issues, including advocacy options.

CCMS: feedback survey

Resolution, the family lawyers' group, has launched a survey to gauge users' experience of the client and cost management system (CCMS), following some recent changes by the LAA. The survey is open to legal aid practitioners in all civil contract categories and is available to complete online until 21 December.
