Welcome to the latest Junior Lawyers Division Update and the last in both 2015 and my year as chair of the JLD.
The 2014-2015 JLD Executive Committee made five key promises this year. I am delighted that we have delivered on all of these promises. In fact, we have gone even further to deliver what we believe has been one of the most successful JLD years since its inception. In particular, I hope November's introduction of the Law Society's recommended minimum salary for trainee solicitors will help junior lawyers across the country.
I am excited to release our Annual Report, which provides a reminder of those promises, an explanation of how we achieved them, and a detailed account of all the work we have carried out this year on behalf of the membership.
Many of these fantastic outcomes could not have been achieved without our members. So, on behalf of the 2014-2015 JLD Executive Committee I would like to thank all our junior lawyer members for their engagement and support over the year.
I would also like to thank the talented and dedicated 2014-2015 JLD Executive Committee for their work throughout this year, with particular thanks to outgoing members Emma Dickinson and Tamasin Dorosti, who have been phenomenal advocates for junior lawyers during their time on the committee.
I wish Leanne Maund (JLD chair) and the 2015-2016 JLD Executive Committee all the best of luck in the coming year, which will no doubt see more changes to the legal profession.
Season's greetings from the JLD, and I wish you every success in the new year.
2014-2015 Chair, Junior Lawyers Division of the Law Society
