Welcome to the April International Update from the Law Society of England and Wales.
This month we look at our English Law Day in Almaty, Kazakhstan. As trade between the UK and Kazakhstan continues to grow, it is important for businesses and their advisers to have advanced knowledge of how the English law principles can be used in Kazakhstan. The conference coincides with the Kazakhstan Bar Association 2016 annual conference.
There are opportunities for lawyers around the world to participate in the World Bank's Doing Business project 2017, and for members who wish to get involved with visiting delegations from Ghana, China, Malaysia and Japan.
Finally, nominations are still open for our 'Excellence in International Legal Services' award. This really is a great opportunity to showcase the innovative work you are doing to build your international business on the awards' tenth anniversary. Don't forget to submit your application by Friday 27 May.

Shenzhen City Bureau of Justice's visit to Law Society - 14 June

Fiji delegation visit to the Law Society
On 8 March, we welcomed a delegation of lawyers from Fiji who were accompanied by representatives of the Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT). This was a capacity building visit and was the first from the country.
