Legal aid deserts - new Law Society campaign

Families across large parts of England and Wales are being denied state-funded advice on housing issues because of 'legal aid deserts' which have emerged due to drastic government cuts. We have launched a new campaign to raise awareness of this issue, along with an interactive map highlighting the problem.

Review of civil courts structure proposes online courts

We cautiously welcomed a comprehensive review of the structure of the civil courts in England and Wales conducted by Lord Justice Briggs. The thorough review acknowledges the vital role solicitors play in IT integration and has recommended that cost recovery should be possible for those using the online court.
