Over 70 stalls already signed up to the Admiral Newport Food Festival

More than 70 food and drink exhibitors have confirmed their attendance at the Admiral Newport Food Festival which celebrates its fifth birthday this year.

Making their first appearance at the festival will be the following Newport-based exhibitors:

  • A Lot of Waffle – a new Newport company selling American waffles with sweet and savoury toppngs

  • Big Fish Little Fish – another new Newport business that sells crayfish nachos 

  • Curry on the Curve – selling healthy Indian cuisine

The council's website provides all the latest road works scheduled for Newport so that residents can plan their journeys accordingly.  The weekly road works report can be viewed here

In September 2014, the Welsh Government introduced the Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013 which makes it a legal requirement for local authorities in Wales to map and plan suitable routes for active travel.

Local authorities have to produce Existing Route Maps (ERM) to be submitted to the Welsh Government by 22 January 2016.

Exam congratulations

Newport City Council is congratulating pupils and staff as they celebrate this year’s A-Level successes. 

Schools in the city maintained their high performance in the examinations with results above the Wales average for pupils gaining grades A*-C.The percentage of those gaining an A* is 5.9 per cent while the percentage of those gaining an A*-A is 23.2 per cent, above the Wales average of 23.1 per cent.
