Electoral Registration

The council is currently conducting the annual canvass. Household Enquiry Forms are currently being sent to all properties in Newport.

It’s quick and easy to complete the form online, using the internet site

Householders will have to have their form to hand as they will need to the two part security number printed on the form.

logo admiral for white backs.jpgLocal chefs and food producers confirmed for Chef Demonstrations at the Admiral Newport Food Festival.

This years event will welcome new chefs and food producers to the demo stages in Newport Indoor Market. Chef demos are free, you don't need to book a ticket, just turn up!

Chefs include Rickie Ash from The Ridgeway Bar and Kitchen, Celtic Manor Resort chefs Adam Whittle and Simon Crockford and The Ruperra Arms chef Steve White. The award winning Hang Fire Smokehouse will be showcasing their speciality smoked meats
and Bruno from Brunos Bakery and Patisserie in Caerleon will be making his
famous Portuguese custard tarts.

The council's website provides all the latest road works scheduled for Newport so
that residents can plan their journeys accordingly.  The weekly road works
report can be viewed here.

Mytravelpass- discounted bus fares

Mytravelpass is a pilot scheme funded by the Welsh Government to give discounted bus travel
to young people aged 16-18 years living in Wales, including young people studying in Wales.

The pass will provide at least a one-third discount on the equivalent full fares of
tickets purchased on the bus.

Exam congratulations

Newport City Council is congratulating pupils and staff as they celebrate this year’s GCSE successes.

The number of pupils in Newport achieving WJEC GCSE A*- A grades was 18.7 per cent.

Figures for the WJEC examinations show that 60.4 per cent of entries in Newport achieved
grades A* to C. Overall,
97.9 per cent of WJEC entries in the city were graded between A* and G.

The proportion of Newport pupils achieving a pass at WJEC GCSE is slightly higher than the Wales average for all exam boards.
