Admiral Newport Food Festival - This Saturday!

The Admiral Newport FoodFestival is finally here. There's lots in store in the city centre on Saturday 3 October 2015 including chef demonstrations, over 70 stalls and street entertainment.

The weather looks to be great for the day so we look forward to seeing you in the city centre soaking up the sun and the atmosphere as well as the wonderful food and drink on offer.

Secondary school admissions - apply now for September 2016

You can now apply online for secondary school places for September 2016. Applications are open from 1 October to 30 November 2015 and decisions will be issued on 1 March 2016.

Newport has a new Welsh-medium secondary school for Year 7 pupils commencing September 2016 and applications can be made now, look for 'Ysgol uwchradd cyfrwng Cymraeg newydd, Casnewydd' when you apply online.

Reporting street light faults

If you live in Newport, or work with residents, it is easier than ever to report street lighting faults online.

Using 'Report It' from www.newport.gov.uk homepage you can now see which 
street lights have already been reported as a fault, and if necessary report a new fault.

The council's website provides all the latest road works scheduled for Newport so that residents can plan their journeys accordingly.

Drivers are being forewarned that High Street, Griffin Street and Commercial Street from it’s junction with Charles Street through to the junction with Stow Hill will be closed from 5pm on Friday 2 October through to approximately 8.30pm on Saturday 3 October to allow for the safe setting up, implementation and de-rig of the Admiral Newport Food Festival.
