Applying for a nursery place in 2016

school-children-in-class-1-cropped-256x192.jpgYour child is entitled to a free part-time nursery place in the term after their third birthday.

This place can be in a community (council) nursery school/class or in a (private) non-maintained setting, which may be a playgroup or a private day nursery.

Admission to community nursery schools and classes is offered for a half-day session, either morning or afternoon, 5 days per week.

You can apply for a community or council maintained nursery from Friday 8 January 2016 until the closing date, 29 February 2016.  To apply visit the school admissions page on the council’s website.

Additional nurseries may be available for September 2016, please check the council’s website for further updates

Internet access is available at all Newport libraries and is free for the first hour. For assistance with your online application visit Newport Information Station at: Old Station Building, Queensway, Newport NP20 4AX.

Christmas collection for the dogs at Coronation Kennels

unmerrydexmas.jpgThe staff at Coronation Kennels would like to thank all those people who donated to the Kennel’s 2014 Christmas appeal and they are calling for donations for the Christmas 2015 appeal.

The team do a great job of looking after stray dogs who have been found by Newport residents, or brought in by the council’s dog wardens, and are asking for people to donate items such as dog treats and toys to the dogs at the kennels.

To donate please bring your items along to Coronation Kennels, Stephenson Street, Newport, NP19 0RB.

They would love to hear from you. Thank you.

Welsh Government library survey

The Welsh Government is asking feedback from people who have used libraries in wales over the past two years. They are offering a chance to be entered into the free prize draw for a £50 high street voucher.  
Please take 10 minutes to complete the survey.
