2016/17 Budget

Following Welsh Government’s announcement on Wednesday 9 December, it was confirmed that Newport City Council would be facing a decrease in its 2016/17 local authority settlement of 0.7%, reducing the total figure to £209 million.

The Cabinet of Newport City Council is set to consider budget savings proposals as it seeks to save almost £14.5 million in the next financial year, contributing to projected savings of £35 million over the next four years.  Consultation with residents will be taking place over the coming weeks, to seek views on the proposed savings.
