Newyddion Wythnosol oddi wrth Gyngor Dinas Casnewydd

Garden waste collections to take a winter break

Hoe dros y gaeaf i gasgliadau gwastraff gardd

orange top bin.jpgNewport City Council will continue to collect garden waste until week ending 2 December 2016.

Depending on your collection day/week, your last collection will be between 21 November and 2 December 2016.

You can check all your collection dates at www.newport.gov.uk/mynewport

Collections will start again week beginning 6 March 2017.

You can take your garden waste – including Christmas trees – to the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC), Docks Way, or use your garden waste bin to collect leaf fall ready for the first collections next year.

We would like to thank all residents for actively participating in the recycling schemes, helping to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill each year.

orange top bin.jpgBydd Cyngor Dinas Casnewydd yn parhau i gasglu gwastraff gardd tan yr wythnos fydd yn gorffen ar 2 Rhagfyr 2016.

Gan ddibynnu ar eich diwrnod/wythnos gasglu, bydd eich casgliad olaf rhwng 21 Tachwedd a 2 Rhagfyr 2016.

Gallwch wirio eich holl gasgliadau yma: www.newport.gov.uk/mynewport

Bydd casgliadau yn ail-ddechrau ar yr wythnos yn dechrau ar 6 Mawrth 2017.

Gallwch gymryd eich gwastraff gardd – gan gynnwys coed Nadolig – i’r Ganolfan Ailgylchu Gwastraff y Cartref, Docks Way, neu ddefnyddio’ch bin gwastraff gardd i gasglu dail yn barod ar gyfer y casgliad cyntaf y flwyddyn nesaf.

Hoffem ddiolch i'r holl breswylwyr am gymryd rhan yn y cynlluniau ailgylchu, gan leihau faint o wastraff sy’n mynd i safleoedd tirlenwi bob blwyddyn.

Newport food and drink festival a great success – despite a soggy start!

Gŵyl bwyd a diod Casnewydd yn llwyddiant ysgubol – er gwaethaf dechrau gwlyb!

tr_ffest logo.jpgLast weekend saw around 14,000 people flock to the city centre for the Tiny Rebel Newport Food and Drink Festival 2016.

Traders, chefs and entertainers braved some seasonal wet weather and provided culinary delights, packed out demonstrations and brought smiles to the crowds.

Councillor Debbie Wilcox, Leader of Newport City Council, said: “It was great to see people returning to the food festival and also so many first-time visitors – both local and from further afield. The festival has truly found its footing and what promised to be the biggest and best yet, certainly didn’t disappoint.

“The fringe events were also excellent – empty plates and flowing conversation were definitely the markings of a very successful event for The Ridgeway Bar & Kitchen pre-festival supper on Friday night!”

Tiny Rebel’s Bradley Cummings, said: “We’re so proud of our city, and this year’s food and drink festival really showed how we’re all coming together to make great things happen.

“There was a real buzz across the venues and it was great to see so many people not just visiting, but getting involved. We’re already thinking about how we can top it next year!”

Hywel Jones, patron of the food festival and executive chef at Lucknam Park Hotel and Spa, said: “This year it really felt like we’d ‘got it’ – Newport and the food festival has achieved so much in just a few years and I’m very proud to have been involved.”

Councillor Wilcox added: “I would also like extend my appreciation again to this year’s sponsors and supporters – without them we wouldn’t have had the offering we did. Thanks to the businesses, residents and visitors who all showed they’re #BackingNewport.”

Sponsors and supporters of this year’s event were Tiny Rebel, Admiral, Celtic Manor Resort, The Golden Lion Magor, Everett Tomlin Lloyd & Pratt Solicitors, Western Power Distribution, Mojo The Food Bar, Clarks and Friars Walk.

tr_ffest logo.jpgDaeth oddeutu 14,000 o bobl i ganol y ddinas y penwythnos diwethaf am Ŵyl Bwyd a Diod Casnewydd Tiny Rebel 2016.

Wynebodd masnachwyr, cogyddion a diddanwyr dywydd gwlyb y tymor i gynnal arddangosiadau gwych a choginio bwyd blasus a rodd wenau ar wynebau'r torfeydd.

Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Debbie Wilcox, Arweinydd Cyngor Dinas Casnewydd: “Roedd yn wych gweld pobl yn dychwelyd i’r ŵyl bwyd a hefyd pobl yn dod am y tro cyntaf o’r ardal leol a thu hwnt. Mae’r ŵyl wirioneddol wedi ymsefydlu ac roedd yr un fwyaf a gorau erioed.

“Roedd digwyddiadau eraill yn ardderchog – roedd swper The Ridgeway Bar & Kitchen cyn yr ŵyl ar nos Wener yn llwyddiannus iawn. Roedd y platiau gwag a sgwrsio llifol yn brawf o hyn!”

Dywedodd Bradley Cummings o Tiny Rebel: “Rydym yn falch o’n dinas, a dangosodd yr ŵyl bwyd a diod eleni faint rydym yn ei wneud gyda'i gilydd i wneud i bethau gwych ddigwydd.

"Roedd llawer o gyffro yn yr holl leoliadau ac roedd yn wych gweld cymaint o bobl yn cymryd rhan yn y digwyddiad yn ogystal â dod iddo. Rydym eisoes yn meddwl am sut gallwn ni greu digwyddiad gwell y flwyddyn nesaf!"

Dywedodd Hywel Jones, noddwr yr ŵyl bwyd a chogydd gweithredol yn Lucknam Park Hotel and Spa: “Roedd y digwyddiad yn ardderchog eleni – mae Casnewydd a’r ŵyl fwyd wedi cyflawni cymaint mewn ychydig o flynyddoedd ac rwy'n falch o fod yn rhan ohoni."

Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Wilcox: “Hoffwn ddiolch i noddwyr a chefnogwyr yr ŵyl eleni hefyd – hebddyn nhw, ni fyddai'r ŵyl wedi bod mor llwyddiannus. Diolch i'r busnesau, y trigolion â'r ymwelwyr a ddaeth i #GefnogiCasnewydd.

Noddwyr a chefnogwyr y digwyddiad eleni oedd Tiny Rebel, Admiral, Celtic Manor Resort, The Golden Lion Magor, Everett Tomlin Lloyd & Pratt Solicitors, Western Power Distribution, Mojo The Food Bar, Clarks a Friars Walk.
