Oxford Half Marathon Sunday 9 October

Thousands of people will be hitting the streets of Oxford for this years Half Marathon on Sunday 9 October. . Good luck to everyone running and cheering them on! This years event promises to be even bigger than last year, so please check the website for details of how to get to the event, and be aware that traffic will be extremely busy on the day. Celebrate Older People's Day

There are lots of events today as part of the celebrations for Older People's Day, from Pamper Days at Banbury Health & Wellbeing Centre to a drop-in Healthbus at Abingdon Market Place. And even if you missed out, there's lots happening every week via the Community Information Network
Isobel and Jacob Oxfordshire CC Adoption
19 -25 of October is Adoption week and we're focusing on the children that often have to wait longer to be placed with an adoptive family, like Isobel and Jacob. If you're thinking about adopting our team would love to hear from you.  
Electric Blanket testing

If the chillier mornings have you reaching in the cupboard for your electric blanket don't forget to get it tested first. Have an elderly relative? Why not take theirs along too?

Applications for children due to start primary or secondary school in September 2016 can now be made online here. You can also find a video guide to the application process if you get stuck.

Frideswide Square
Work on Frideswide Square and Park End Street is ongoing. If you intend to drive into the city via these routes please plan your journeys and consider alternatives

Hagbourne Hill 
Road closures and signed diversions will be in place throughout the work and further information can be found on the 'Details' tab here 

A34 Milton Interchange work
Overnight closures Saturday 4 October and overnight on Sunday 5 October 10pm and 6am.

A40 Roundabouts
Overnight work between 8pm and 6am is due to be completed by 3 October.

Family Arts Festival

The family arts festival is a national month of high quality family arts events throughout October, and Pegasus Arts theatre are getting involved, with shows, film screenings and loads more. Get the full programme here

Children's Centres

This autumn, Oxfordshire County Council will be undertaking a full public consultation on the future of Children’s Centres and Early Intervention Hubs. The consultation has not begun yet, but you can sign up to be notified of the start here, and read the full report to the council's Cabinet, including the options we are proposing here
Household Waste

We are currently consulting the public on a potential reduction in the number of household waste recycling centres in the county with the aim being to meet a £350,000 saving set in the authority’s budget. Find out more about our proposals and how you can take part in the discussion here
