“Merryl makes everyone happy. She is so lovely and friendly.”

With almost a decade of experience, carer Merryl Rautenbach, is greatly appreciated by those she cares for. “The job enables you to discover so much about people and their lives.”

While Merryl does have experience as a nurse, it’s her approach to people that makes her a great carer. She says herself that carers need to be tough but kind, patient, caring, and respectful.  All values you can’t teach. People across Oxfordshire need carers like Merryl, find your role in care at

Get Sugar Smart

Get “Sugar Smart” and take control of your family’s sugar intake. On average, children in England consume three times more sugar than the maximum recommended daily amount.
They might seem fine on the outside but too much sugar can lead to the build-up of harmful fat on the inside that we can’t see. This fat around their vital organs can cause serious diseases in the future.

Download the free
Change4Life Sugar Smart app to find out how much total sugar is in the food and drink your family consume every day and search ‘Change4Life’ for lots of free support, tips, ideas and recipes.

What's next for Oxfordshire's Budget

On January 26 the county council's Cabinet discussed our budget, including steps we’re taking to balance this years budget in light of the £70m savings we need to make over the coming years. The final budget for 2016/17 – 2019/20 will be voted on by full Council on 16 February 2016. We’ll be keeping our Budget pages up to date with the latest details as we get them so you can keep track of what’s happening.
