Wednesday, October 14, 2015Air passenger duty (APD) is charged on all passenger flights from UK airports. Some regional airports have campaigned for lower rates of tax being charged on flights from the regions. Recently regional airports in England have raised concerns as to the devolution of APD to the Scottish Government - as provided for by the Scotland Bill 2015/16 - and, potentially, to the Welsh Assembly. In July 2015 the Treasury published a discussion paper on options to support English regional airports, though to date the Government has not announced any concrete proposals.
