The Accounts Commission for Scotland has a duty under the Local Government Act 1992 to direct local authorities to publish certain information on their performance.

Time for Teaching is the first report to appear as the result of co-operation between the Accounts Commission and HM Inspectors of schools. The report says that improving the way administration is handled in schools would lead to significant savings of teachers'time in schools throughout Scotland.

This report into the new contracts for Scotland's trunk roads has found that, overall, the Scottish Executive Development Department completed the competitions fairly and properly and made the right contract decisions. At 337 million the winning bidders for all four contracts were 36% lower than the next lowest tenders.
