Plenary sessions : MEPs will debate the priorities of the incoming Slovak Presidency of the EU Council of Ministers with Prime Minister Rbert Fico on Wednesday morning, from 9.00. Parliaments President Martin Schulz will hold a press conference with Mr Fico at around 11.30.

Plenary sessions : Cyber attacks can cause substantial damage to critical infrastructure services such as the electricity supply or air traffic control. To better defend against such attacks, the European Commission has proposed the EU's first ever cyber security rules. MEPs debate them on Tuesday 5 July and vote on them the following day. Plenary sessions : Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and his team were praised by a majority of political group speakers on Tuesday for the efficient way in which the Netherlands has managed the Council Presidency over the past half year. The highlights that they mentioned included the EU-Turkey deal on migration, the agreement on a European Coast and Border Guard agency, anti-tax avoidance measures and the fourth railway package.

Plenary sessions : EU leaders must respond to the UK's vote to leave the EU, by doing more to defend the EU project and to make it more transparent, social and responsive to citizens' concerns. This was a key message that came out of Parliament's Tuesday morning debate with European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, on last week's EU summit.

Plenary sessions : Plans to update EU type approval rules and emission limits for internal combustion engines in non-road mobile machinery (NRMM), such as lawn mowers, bulldozers, diesel locomotives and inland waterway vessels, were backed by MEPs on Wednesday. These plans had already been agreed informally with the Dutch Presidency of the Council. NRMM engines account for about 15% of all NOx and 5% of particulate emissions in the EU.

Plenary sessions : Allowing refugees and asylum seekers to work in their host countries not only helps to restore their human dignity, but also reduces strain on public budgets by turning them into taxpayers, says a non-binding resolution voted on Tuesday. Inclusion schemes should nonetheless emphasise language learning and pay attention to local unemployment rates, especially among young people, it adds.

Plenary sessions : An EU-Peru visa waiver agreement enabling Peruvians to travel to the EU and EU nationals to travel to Peru without requesting a visa for stays up to 90 days within any 180-day period was endorsed by MEPs on Tuesday. The deal was approved by 611 votes to 59, with 21 abstentions.

Travelling abroad for terrorist purposes, training or being trained, incitement to terrorism or financing of terrorist activities must be made a crime in all EU member states, urge Civil Liberties Committee MEPs in a resolution voted on Monday night. Ahead of upcoming talks with the Council on a draft new counter-terrorism directive, MEPs also stressed the need to protect and assist victims, especially across borders.
