  CANalympics success for Craigmair Care Home  

Craigmair Care Home in Craigshill picked up first place at the annual CANalympics event which took place at Xcite Broxburn recently. The West Lothian Care Activity Network (CAN) event, which is now in its sixth year, aims to increase levels of physical activity within care settings (care homes, day care, sheltered housing, and care at home). One hundred and ninety people attended the event, which was followed by a Tea Dance.

  Housing underway in Philpstoun   
  The construction of new homes in Philpstoun, near Linlithgow is now underway as part of West Lothian Council’s 1,000 new council homes programme.  
Five new homes are being built at The Avenue, Philpstoun. Four of these will be one bedroom cottage flats and one will be a two bedroom detached house. 
Only 12% of the original council houses in Philpstoun remaining in council ownership.  This small development will provide affordable housing to rent in the village.

  West Lothian Highland Games  
  The 45th West Lothian Highland Games takes place in Bathgate's Meadow Park on Saturday 28 May from 9am.
The popular annual event includes pipe band competitions, highland dancing and heavy sports, as well as fun family activities, cookery demonstrations, craft stalls and much more. 
The chieftains' parade leaves Bloomfield Place at 10.30am and heads through Bathgate towards Meadow Park, led by this year's chieftain David Sibbald.

  Summer makeover for Froggy Pond in Livingston  
  Froggy Pond A popular pond in Dedridge, Livingston, is set to benefit from a makeover. During the summer Froggy Pond will be cleared of debris.  The sediment will be moved to create 'tiers' in the water and native wetland plants will be introduced to filter any additional sediment and provide habitats for wildlife. The work is expected to be completed by September.

Everyone is welcome to attend the official opening event of King George V Park and Pavilion this Saturday, 28 May from 2pm.
