|West Lothian Council receives three prestigious Excellence awards.
West Lothian Council's commitment to delivering excellent services across the organisation and to its customers was recognised at the Quality Scotland 'Scottish Awards for Business Excellence' Awards recently. The council was named as the overall winner of the coveted 'Scottish Award for Business Excellence 2016' at Quality Scotland's 'Scottish Awards for Business Excellence', and was also honoured with the 'Recognised for Excellence, 5 star' Award and the 'Leading with Vision, Inspiration & Integrity' Good Practice Award.
|Chill Out Zone Bathgate is Breastfeeding Friendly.
|The Chill Out Zone (COZ) in Bathgate is the latest facility to have received the Breastfeeding Friendly Premises Award. The award was presented to Alan Davies, Manager of COZ, on behalf of Professor Allison McCallum Director of Public Health as part of National Breastfeeding Celebration Week which aims to bring supporters and health professionals together and to share what works well to support breastfeeding in local communities
|£5 million summer school investment programme starts.
|As the bell rang to announce the start of the summer holidays for around 30,000 pupils; it also signalled the start of work on an ambitious £5 million summer investment programme in schools. Almost 80 projects which range from major extensions to smaller planned improvements are underway.|
|Count down to summer exchange visit|
|Eleven students, from The James Young High School, Broxburn and Whitburn Academies and Inveralmond Community High School; along with three trainees from the council's Skills Training Programme; and three members of staff are ready for an exchange visit to Hochsauerland in Germany. The visit, which takes place from Tuesday 12 to Tuesday 19 July, is part of West Lothian Council's Twinning Partnership with Hochsauerlandkreis.|

|West Lothian Council is advising drivers of a number of road works during the coming months which are likely to have an impact on travel.|
