  New council homes unveiled at Bridgend  

Tenants received the keys to their new council homes in Bridgend near Linlithgow recently. 
West Lothian Council is building 1,000 new homes across all council ward areas including 25 in the Linlithgow ward.  At Bridgend, five new bungalows have been built, all specifically designed for tenants with mobility issues. Existing housing tenants are given priority in terms of transferring into the council’s new build homes. Tenants moved into the three new one bedroom bungalows and two, two bedroom bungalows at Auldhill recently.

  Broxburn library on the move after £400,000 council investment  

Broxburn Library and Community Museum are set to move to Strathbrock Partnership Centre in a move that will bring key community services under one roof in the town.  West Lothian Council is investing £400,000 in the project which will deliver a bright, new modern facility for the local community. Work on the project started recently and is due to be completed in November.

  New era underway at Deans South  
  Demolition work at the Deans South estate in Livingston has been completed on 16 blocks. Site clearance of these blocks is now complete and preparation is underway for the new build council housing construction programme beginning on site later this year.
A total of 117 new homes are currently planned for the site, with Lovell Partnerships and McTaggart Construction carrying out the work. A masterplan is also being commissioned to assess the entire development capacity of the estate, with consultation undertaken later this year.

  Council thanks residents for helping to save more than £200,000  
  West Lothian Council is saying a huge thank you to residents who are recycling more since they have received their new slim bin. In fact, the performance of the first three phases rolled out means that the area is on target to be sending 586 more lorries of food waste and 536 more lorries of blue bin waste to recycling facilities every year once the service is fully rolled out.

Exhibition: The Art Room   Fri 2 September, Howden Park Centre
The Art Room is a UK charity that works with children to increase self-esteem, self-confidence and independence through art.  The first branch in Scotland opened in Wester Hailes Education Centre in 2014, providing therapeutic interventions for young people in the local community.  This exhibition showcases some of the artwork created as part of these art as therapy sessions and demonstrates the power of art to change lives. Friday 2 September to Sunday 30 October. Free entry, Howden Park Centre.

Bathgate Music Festival   until 4 September 
Bathgate Music Festival  
The annual Bathgate Music Festival takes place at venues across the town until Sunday 4 September. If you like music, whether it is traditional, folk, blues, country, 60s, musicals or classical,  there’s something for you and many of the events are free. A fantastic weekend of live music will be brought to a close at the Party in the Park family fun day in Kirkton Park on Sunday 4 September from 11am.

Linlithgow Folk Festival   7 to 11 September

Multi-award-winning traditional musicians, The Outside Track, are set to headline the 18th annual festival. The concert on Saturday 10 September in Linlithgow Academy Theatre will be the high point of the five-day event, which also includes a musical cruise on the canal, a family ceilidh, the Hub at the Masonic Hall, a Bluegrass concert and Gospel session and outdoor stage at the Cross. Many of the events are free.
