  Capito employs 1,000th StepsN2work young person
 
     
 

Livingston-based Capito has employed the 1,000th young person on West Lothian Council’s ground-breaking StepsN2work programme. Capito has been a supporter of the programme since 2012 and has taken on three young people from the scheme. The latest recruit Tiegan Brown, who joined Capito as an Admin Assistant recently, has been named as the 1,000th young person to benefit from the scheme, pipping colleague Connor Morrison to the title.

  Council confirms improvements to local bus services  
 
   
  West Lothian Council is making improvements to a number of local council-supported bus services. Earlier this year West Lothian Council made a commitment to review the introduction of new bus service routes and timetables. Since then the council has monitored the implementation of the new routes and timetables.

  New council homes underway in Fauldhouse
 
   
  Work is currently underway to develop new council homes in Fauldhouse.
A mixture of forty new cottage flats, bungalows and two, three, four and five-bedroom houses are being built at Eastfield, Fauldhouse. Lovell Partnerships began building on behalf of West Lothian Council earlier this year and the homes are expected to be complete in 2017.

  Parking improvements at Hermand Park Cemetery  
 
   
  Improvement work will be carried out at the car park at Hermand Park Cemetery in West Calder. Following a review of access arrangements at Hermand Park Cemetery a number of improvements have been made to enhance disabled and pedestrian access.  In addition, further improvement work is planned which will allow the car park to be open to visitors at all times.

  Information sessions focus on recycling
 
   
  West Lothian Council is continuing the roll-out of the new slim grey bins. The scheme has already been successfully introduced to around a third of the county's households. The next phase to be introduced includes: Livingston, Kirknewton, East Calder and Mid Calder. Information sessions have been organised to explain the introduction and to assist local people with information about increasing their recycling.
