Pinewood School Extension
  £1.2 million extension at Pinewood School is opened
 
     
 

Eric Lumsden, who is parent representative on West Lothian Council's Education Executive, has performed the official opening of the new extension at Pinewood School in Blackburn.
The new extension, which represents an investment of more than £1.2 million by West Lothian Council, provides the school five new classrooms, a new central hub space and therapist room, as well as a link corridor connecting the extension to the existing school; and a fantastic new outdoor MUGA (multi-use games area).

  New fitness suite opens at Stoneyburn Community Centre
 
   
 

The Management Committee applied to The Levenseat Trust for funding to purchase and installation of the equipment for the fitness suite from the Landfill Community Fund (LCF).

  New Head of Social Policy appointed
 
   
  Jane Kellock has been appointed as West Lothian Council's Head of Social Policy. Ms Kellock, who has been Acting Head of Social Policy since April 2015, has responsibility for all council social work services, and health improvement within West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership; the position also carries the title of Chief Social Work Officer.

  Silver Sunday Success
 
   
  West Lothian residents of 65 years and over were invited to attend a free Silver Sunday event at the Hilcroft Hotel recently. More than 144 people attended the event which featured information stalls from Customer Information Services, MacMillan Cancer Support, Food train, Carers of West Lothian, Craigshill Good neighbour network, Alzheimer’s Scotland, Police Scotland, Fire and Rescue Service , Handicabs and West Lothian 50+ Network.

  West Lothian College showcases International Excellence at Holyrood 
 
   
  In the academic year 2015/16 more than 100 students from West Lothian College travelled overseas to undertake work placements or study. In recognition of this work the college was invited to showcase its work at the Annual Parliamentary Reception for the College Sector at Holyrood recently.
