  Community Safety Partners issue firework safety warning  

West Lothian Community Safety Partnership is urging everyone to heed key fire safety messages this year and stay safe. Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) Prevention & Protection Group Manager for West Lothian, Martin Riach said: "The 5th of November is one of the busiest days of the year for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Every year we work closely with our partners in West Lothian to minimise the risks and dangers associated with unsupervised bonfires and fireworks."

  New Head Teacher for Livingston Village Primary School  
  Jackie Mill has recently been appointed as the new Head Teacher at Livingston Village Primary School.
Before taking up the post, Jackie was the Consortium Depute Head Teacher across four primary schools in West Lothian, assisting two new Head Teachers, Joanne McKissack and Nicola Hamilton.

  West Lothian College welcomes the Singing Children of Africa  
  The Singing Children of Africa from the Joluarabi School in Kenya recently visited West Lothian College while on their UK wide tour. 
Following performances across the UK the children enjoyed a fun-filled visit to West Lothian College campus. The choir were welcomed by staff and pupils from the Sport & Fitness department.

  Mid Calder Primary School Mid Calder Primary School is the second primary school in West Lothian to receive the Digital Schools Award. Digital Schools Awards Scotland is a new national awards programme which aims to promote, recognise and encourage a whole school approach to the use of digital technology.

Hanneline Visnes: Notes from the VIP Lounge   This weekend,Linlithgow Burgh Halls 
A new exhibition opens at Linlithgow Burgh Halls. Originally from Norway, Hanneline Visnes now lives and works in Glasgow and is a Lecturer of Painting and Printmaking at Glasgow School of Art.
She has exhibited widely nationally and internationally, with work held in a number of public collections including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) New York.  
In this latest body of work, Visnes has widened her interest from ornamental objects to include another area of exclusivity, that of high fashion.Working solely with watercolour on paper for this exhibition, often on a large scale.

The Counterfeit Sixties

Toss in four musicians playing 100% live. Add a light show and sound system that Pink Floyd would envy.Stir in a generous amount of video and stills of the stars from a bygone era. Cook for 2 hours. West Calder Community Development Trust Ceilidh 
  This weekend, West Calder 
West Calder Community Development Trust is holding a family-friendly ceilidh to raise funds for this year's annual West Calder Firework Display.The ceilidh will take place in West Calder Community Centre from 7pm - 11pm this Saturday, 7 October.
Ticket prices are £7 adult and £2 child (under 12s). This includes pie/stovies supper during the interval.
Live music will feature Lindsay Weir and her Scottish Dance Band.

Strathbrock Church Hall Craft Fair    This weekend, Uphall
One of the biggest craft fairs in the West Lothian calendar takes place this Saturday, 7 October, at Strathbrock Church Hall, Uphall from 10.30am - 3.30pm.
The popular annual craft fair will see over 40 stalls selling unique handcrafted gifts and products. A coffee bar will be open all day offering filled rolls, home baking and refreshments.
Entry to the fair is free, and provides an excellent opportunity to start your Christmas shopping early.
